5,000 Songs Headed to Rock Band?

Billboard in the US reports that 5,000 songs downloadable songs may be headed to Rock Band this year.
With over 500 songs already available to purchase online, Rock Band has a notable head start in the download arena over Guitar Hero, which despite its age, has been relatively slow to embrace online song purchasing as quickly as the Rock Band set.
This news, coming as it does in the same week that gaming overtook both the music and film industries in terms of revenue, confirms that gaming has truly come of age, and that other industries are now trying to latch onto it, rather than the other way around, as was the case of the 80s and 90s where games were increasingly based on movie licenses.
